Using Strip Custom CSS with Marketo Forms

Use the Strip Custom CSS option to remove styling conflicts between Marketo forms and your Knak landing page design.

What Is the Strip Custom CSS Option?

The Strip Custom CSS option removes custom Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) that are applied to a Marketo form.

When enabled, Knak removes custom styles that were added in Marketo. This allows the styles configured in Knak to control the appearance of the form.

Use this option when you want your form to match the design of your landing page.

Enable Strip Custom CSS

To enable Strip Custom CSS for a Marketo form:

  1. Open your landing page.

  2. Drag a Form content block onto the page.

  3. Import a form from Marketo.

  4. In the form settings, select Custom under Form Styling.

  5. Enable the Strip Custom CSS checkbox.

When to Use Strip Custom CSS

Use Strip Custom CSS when your Marketo form contains custom styling that conflicts with the styles applied in Knak.

Enabling this option can help you:

  • Maintain a consistent design across your landing page

  • Ensure Knak form styles display as expected

  • Prevent styling conflicts between Marketo and Knak

  • Create a more seamless visitor experience

Common Use Cases

Enable Strip Custom CSS when:

  • You are using an existing Marketo form with custom CSS

  • A Marketo form does not match your Knak design

  • Marketo styling is overriding Knak styling

  • You want Knak styles to take precedence

Potential Considerations

In some cases, Strip Custom CSS may affect styles added by other scripts on the page.

Examples include:

  • Cookie consent tools

  • Preference centers

  • Third-party integrations that inject CSS dynamically

Troubleshooting Script Conflicts

If another script stops displaying correctly after enabling Strip Custom CSS, move the script to the Tracking Header section so it loads before the Marketo form.

To move a script to the Tracking Header:

  1. Open your landing page.

  2. Click the Info tab.

  3. Scroll to the Tracking section.

  4. Paste your script into the Header field.

  5. Save your changes.

  6. Test the page again.

If the issue continues after moving your script:

  1. Create a new version of the form in Marketo.

  2. Remove the custom CSS from the Marketo form.

  3. Disable the Strip Custom CSS option in Knak.

  4. Test the page again.

Best Practices

Before publishing your landing page:

  • Enable Strip Custom CSS in a test environment first

  • Review the appearance of the form

  • Test all interactive elements

  • Verify third-party scripts continue to work correctly

  • Confirm the page displays properly across devices
