Have you previewed your email and noticed that there is a phone number/address/website that is automatically linking in your email when you did not apply this to your asset? If you are viewing your email in Gmail or Outlook, we may have the explanation as to why this is happening.
The reason this happens is because Gmail and Outlook will fully scan your email and all of it's contents to look for anything that looks like it would need a link (ex: number/address/website) and automatically apply a blue color and underline to what they assume is a link. We understand that this can be irritating that the email looks different than originally intended. Unfortunately there isn't a way to prevent this from happening, but there is a way to mitigate this!
How to avoid the dreaded default blue underlined link:
We recommend adding in a link to anything that may auto-link in the builder. Even if you don't mind the blue link, it's important to always add the correct links to make sure that Gmail/Outlook doesn't direct your users to a different location than intended. Also to make sure a url link works properly, you need to add "https://" at the beginning of your link otherwise it will not open properly!
After adding the link, apply the same link color as your text and ensure that the "underline links" and "bold links" box is not enabled to help avoid the automatic blue color and underline:
When you add the link > apply the same link color as your text color > and make sure you don't underline/bold links Gmail and Outlook will recognize the link and won't automatically make those changes for you!
Blue section has the applied changes, red section was just added as text without adding a link:
That's it! If you want to ensure that this will arrive as intended to your customers, you can always send a test email to check!
