FAQs
How do I create a new form on Pardot without the synced Knak layout template?
When creating a new form in Pardot, it must be linked to a Pardot layout template to be created. This can cause confusion as Knak landing pages get synced as layout templates, which are then used in Pardot landing pages. So how do I use a link a form to a layout template that doesn’t exist yet?
You can link the form to any existing layout template to create the form, and this will not affect the ability to custom style a form within Knak. Once you click ‘custom styles’ after the form has been imported, you should be able to customize the look of your form how you choose.
As long as you select the correct form and correct layout template when creating the landing page object on Pardot, your form will appear as you have styled it.
A recommended practice is to create a blank default layout template, and always link new forms to that.
When downloading the HTML for Pardot, I see %%content%% instead of the form. Why is that?
This is due to the way we make the custom styles on Pardot work. When creating a new landing page in Pardot, Pardot will automatically insert the form you selected into where the %%content%%
tag shows in your synced layout template. This results in producing the landing page as you see it in Knak.
Therefore, if you can’t sync the asset directly to Pardot and need to upload the downloaded HTML, your custom-styled Pardot form will still appear as you made it.
