Frequently Asked Questions
How Do You Create a New Account Engagement (Pardot) Form Before Your Knak Layout Template Exists?
When you create a new form in Account Engagement (Pardot), you must associate it with a layout template. This can be confusing if you plan to use the form on a Knak landing page that has not been created yet.
To create the form, select any existing layout template in Account Engagement (Pardot). The selected template is only required to complete the form setup. It will not affect your ability to customize the form's appearance in Knak.
After you import the form into Knak:
Select the form.
Click Custom Style.
Apply the styling you want.
When you create the landing page record in Account Engagement (Pardot), make sure you select:
The correct form
The correct layout template
Your form will display with the styling you configured in Knak.
Best Practice: Create a blank default layout template in Pardot. Use this template whenever you create new forms. This keeps form creation simple and consistent.
Why Does the Downloaded HTML Show %%content%% Instead of the Form?
This behavior is expected.
Knak uses the %%content%% placeholder so Pardot can insert the selected form when the landing page is published.
When you create a landing page in Pardot:
Pardot identifies the selected form.
Pardot replaces the
%%content%%placeholder with that form. The published landing page displays the form with the custom styling you configured in Knak.
If you cannot sync directly to Pardot and need to upload downloaded HTML, the custom-styled form will still render correctly after Pardot processes the page.
