AI Text Generation: Getting Started

Create, improve, and refine content directly inside Knak's text editor with built-in artificial intelligence (AI).

What is AI Text Generation?

AI Text Generation helps you write and improve content without leaving Knak. You can use it to shorten text, rewrite content for clarity, or refine your message with custom instructions.

You can use AI Text Generation anywhere a supported text editor is available in Knak.

Before You Begin

Before you can use AI Text Generation, you must enable the feature for your account.

Enable AI Text Generation

  1. Go to Admin.

  2. Click AI Features.

  3. Enable Knak AI.

  4. Check the Generate text content in the Editor feature.

How to Use AI Text Generation

AI Text Generation works in any textbox throughout Knak, including the module builder. Here's how to use it:

Using Basic Text Operations

  1. Click on any text box where you want to use AI assistance

  2. Look for the AI icon in the text editing toolbar

  3. Select one of the following options:

    • Shorten: Creates a more concise version of your text

    • Refine with prompt: Allows you to provide specific instructions for modifying your text

Working with AI Responses

After generating text with AI, you can:

  • Click the Regenerate icon to get a different AI-generated response

  • Click Replace to apply the AI-generated text to your content

  • Click Refine with prompt to open a messaging interface with Knak AI where you can provide additional guidance

  • Copy and paste content if you wish to use only part of the generated response

Advanced Features

  • Formatting Support: AI Text Generation preserves formatting elements such as bold text, italics, headings, and lists. You can also prompt Knak AI to change the formatting.

  • Merge Tags: Existing merge tags in your content will be preserved, but new merge tags cannot be added or modified through AI generation.

  • Module Builder Compatibility: AI Text Generation works seamlessly within the module builder for both emails and landing pages.

  • Editor Restrictions: if enabled on the Module, the AI Assistant will comply with the restrictions. Occasionally you may get a response that is a few characters over the limit to provide a better output.

Best Practices for AI Text Generation

  • Start with well-structured content for best results

  • Use clear, specific instructions when using the "Refine with prompt" option

  • Review AI-generated content before finalizing to ensure it meets your needs

  • For complex formatting or specific brand voice requirements, provide detailed guidance in your prompts

Examples of Effective Prompts

  • "Make this more conversational and friendly"

  • "Shorten this to three sentences while keeping the key points"

  • "Rewrite this for a technical audience"

  • "Refine this to emphasize our limited-time offer"
