Program Search
Once your Knak asset is ready to sync to Marketo, you are able to find your desired sync location either by navigating your Marketo folder tree or searching for the desired program using its name or URL.
Note: If you utilize Sync Restrictions in Knak, you will not be able to leverage Program Search.
Knak Background Sync
To give you better visibility into the sync process with Marketo, Knak has created a new feature called Knak background sync.
To enabled this in your account, contact Knak Support or your customer success manager.
Once enabled, you will see a new screen when you try to sync an asset showing you the sync progress. If this is taking a while, you can close this window and keep on working.
To check the progress of your sync click on 'Sync Status' in the left nav menu.
Here, you can see all your synced assets, including any failures and the reasons for the failure.
This should give you a better idea of how long your asset sync is taking and any issues.
Troubleshooting
Marketo Plain Text Sync (Known Issue):
Our responsive options to hide sections for mobile or desktop view do not hide that section in the plain text version of an email. Rather, the text gets generated for every component present in the email. Below is a video showing how the plain text appears for responsive sections in Marketo:
Troubleshooting: Sync Error Messages
Learn how to identify and resolve sync issues when pushing assets to your Marketing Automation Platform (MAP).
Check the Sync Status
If an asset does not sync to your MAP, check the sync logs for error messages.
Go to the asset’s Sync Status panel.
Look for a “Failed” status.
Review the error message provided.
Before attempting to sync again, fix the issue listed in the error message. If you see a sync error from Marketo that you do not recognize, review Adobe’s documentation on common error messages to learn more.
Special Case: Error 611
You might see a 611 error: "Could not sync asset template. Possible reasons: -Unsupported emoji in message body." This could show up even when there is no unsupported emoji in your asset - this code is used when an unknown issue occurs on the Marketo side. Nothing is wrong in Knak in this case.
Try these steps:
Sync the email as a new asset.
Manually upload the email if needed.
If the sync succeeds, send the Request ID to Marketo support for further review.
Important: When you see the confetti animation, that means the "presync check" has passed. It does not mean your asset has been fully synced into your MAP.
When you click Sync, Knak runs a “presync” check before attempting to send the asset to your MAP. This check ensures that your asset meets key sending requirements.
Some of the checks include:
Verifying that the integration connection is active.
Confirming that the asset is in a valid folder or program location (for platforms like Marketo).
Checking that the email or landing page content passes basic formatting or module‑requirements (via Knak’s “Optimize” or asset‑validation features).
