Color Contrast for Dark Mode

Contrast is important for accessibility in both Light Mode and Dark mode.

This information mostly applies to email clients that do not support Dark Mode editing. Email clients that support Dark Mode editing give you more control over how your email appears in Dark Mode. Learn more in the Dark Mode Editing article.

Why Color Contrast Matters

Color contrast affects how easily subscribers can read your email content. Good contrast improves accessibility for all users. This is especially important in Dark Mode.

If your email has poor contrast, email clients may automatically adjust your colors in Dark Mode. This can change the appearance of your design.

Strong contrast in Light Mode usually improves Dark Mode results as well.
