Setting up the Wrike integration

Setting up the Knak<>Wrike integration is easy. It allows you to set up a connection between an item in Wrike and an asset within Knak.

Setting up the Knak<>Wrike integration is easy. And it's powerful. It allows you to link assets in Knak with tasks in Wrike - which allows syncing of fields, comments, and status.

Notes:

  • You’ll need to use a Wrike User with an Admin role in the Space(s) you want this integration to work for

  • All comments synced over to Wrike from this integration will appear as though they are from the authenticated user on the integration - as such, we recommend creating a ‘Knak Bot’ user in your Wrike instance to set the integration with.

  • The Wrike scopes required for this integration are: Default and wsReadWrite

Setting up an integration in Wrike

  1. In Wrike, at the top right of the left-hand sidebar, click on your avatar to show the ‘Profile and Settings’ menu. Then from the menu select ‘Apps and Integrations’.

  2. Once on the Apps and Integrations page, select the API tab.

  3. A new tab in your browser will open. In this view enter a name for your integration (e.g. Knak Integration), then click Create new.

  4. Under the Redirect URI heading, delete the line with http://localhost and enter https://enterprise.knak.io/account/integrations/wrike/authorize on the new "Add Redirect URI" line below.

  5. Copy your Client ID and Client Secret, then click Save.

Create the integration in Knak

  1. Open Knak then navigate to the Admin section

2. From there, navigate to Integrations > Platforms then scroll down to find the Wrike tile. Click the tile.

3. Copy and paste your Wrike Client ID and Client Secret into the Wrike integration tile in Knak. Then click Authorize & Save.

4. A new tab will open prompting you to log into your Wrike account and authorize the connection. Upon successful authentication, you will be redirected to Knak and should see a green box with the message We have received authorization from Wrike. You may continue.

5. Lastly, please ensure you have selected a Space to connect your integration to. This will ensure the status and URL of your Knak assets are shared with Wrike.

Note: you will only be able to sync data to one Wrike Space. Should you need to sync data to multiple Wrike Spaces, please follow the above steps to create separate connections for each Space.

Managing your integration

Now that your integration is set up, you can view its configuration, edit it, or delete it from the "My Platform Connection" list on the Integrations page.

If you need to connect a new integration – or re-add a previously deleted one – you can do so by scrolling down to the "All Platforms" section and clicking Connect or Add Another Connection on the relevant platform tile.



Mapping to Wrike custom fields


It is possible to allow additional information to flow from Wrike into custom fields on the asset Info tab in Knak.

To set this up, you will need to reach out to your Knak account team and request the desired custom fields be created in Knak to match your Wrike custom fields. For example, if you want to display the custom field Deadline in Knak, you would request a field to be created in Knak called "Deadline".

Once the custom field has been created in Knak, you can map the corresponding Wrike field to it via the Wrike integration page in Knak. Simply select the relevant Space where the custom field(s) live and map them to the corresponding Knak field(s).


Other Options

Enable Live Updates - Enabling live updates makes it so that mapped fields on linked assets in Knak will always be up-to-date with any changes made to those fields in Wrike. If left off, field updates can be manually triggered under the Project Management section of a linked asset. Please note that by enabling live updates, the potential increase in API usage could affect performance and associated costs in your Wrike instance.

Add Knak Comments in Wrike – Toggle this on to send comments added in Knak back to the comments section of the linked task in Wrike.

Note: Comments added in Wrike will not sync back to Knak.

Add Knak Status in Wrike – Toggle this on to send the Knak asset status (draft, approved, in review etc) back to Wrike.

Add Link to Knak Asset in Wrike – Toggle this on to automatically generate a link in Wrike that can be clicked to open the Knak asset.

Restrict to Brands – Add brand(s) here to restrict which brands can use the Wrike integration.


You are now all set to use Wrike alongside Knak! To get started, go to any Knak asset and click on the Info tab. Then, paste the link to your Wrike item on the right-hand side under Project Management.
