What Is a Tracking Link?

A tracking link is a URL with additional parameters. These parameters help monitor user engagement.

Tracking links allow you to:

  • Measure campaign performance

  • Track user clicks and engagement

  • Categorize links for reporting

  • Analyze results in your Marketing Automation Platform (MAP)

Link Tracking Parameter Options

Knak supports several tracking parameters that help organize and analyze your links.

Alias

An Alias is a custom identifier assigned to a tracked link.

It acts as a shortcut name for the URL.
Analytics tools use this identifier to track engagement.

Example uses:

  • Track button clicks

  • Identify specific campaign links

  • Simplify reporting

Category

A Category groups links by type or campaign purpose.

This parameter helps segment recipients based on the links they click.

Example categories:

  • Product

  • Webinar

  • Resource

  • Demo

Label

A Label is a system-based identifier applied to hyperlinks.

Labels allow you to group and manage links inside your assets.

Benefits include:

  • Easier link organization

  • Better reporting in your MAP

  • Consistent naming across campaigns
