What Is Performance Insights?
Performance Insights lets you view important email engagement metrics directly in Knak. Knak adds a tracking pixel to your email during sync. The tracking pixel collects performance data from supported Marketing Automation Platforms (MAPs), including:
Marketo
Salesforce Marketing Cloud (SFMC)
Pardot / Account Engagement
Eloqua
Performance data appears directly in the Knak platform after your emails are synced and sent.

How Performance Insights Works
Knak inserts a tracking pixel into your email during the sync process.
The tracking pixel tracks:
Email opens
Email client usage
Device type usage
Other engagement metrics
Knak then displays the collected data inside:
Studio views
Campaign views
The Builder Performance tab
Performance Insights (Knak) Setup Video Demo
Enable Performance Insights
Only Knak Administrators can enable this feature.
Step 1: Open Admin Settings
Step 2: Enable the Tracking Pixel
Step 3: Configure Brand Access
After enabling the tracking pixel, choose how the feature applies to brands.
Enable tracking for all brands
Restrict tracking to specific brands
Click Edit Settings beside the tracking settings.
Under brand restricted, select the + icon to restrict Knak tracking to certain brands
Select the brands that should use the tracking pixel.
Save your changes.
Available Metrics
Performance Insights currently supports the following metrics.
Metric | Description |
Total Confirmed Opens | Note: This Filters out Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) impacted opens where possible |
Email Client Breakdown | Shows which email clients recipients used |
Mobile vs Desktop Breakdown | Shows device usage across recipients |
Where To View Metrics
You can access Performance Insights in two locations.
Studio and Campaign Views
Metrics appear directly on the asset tile within:
Builder Performance Tab
Metrics also appear under the Performance tab inside the Knak Builder.
FAQs
Can You Track Landing Page Metrics?
No. Landing page metrics are not currently supported.
As a workaround:
Create separate landing pages in Knak.
Sync both pages to your Marketing Automation Platform.
Run an A/B test within your MAP.
Which Emails Show Metrics?
Performance data is only available for:
Emails that were synced
Emails that were sent
Emails sent after the feature was enabled
Older emails will not display tracking data.
Does This Replace MAP Performance Insights?
No. If you already use MAP Performance Insights in:
Marketo
Salesforce Marketing Cloud
Account Engagement
You will continue to see those metrics alongside Knak tracking data.
Only the open rate metric changes. Knak uses tracking pixel data for confirmed opens.
How Accurate Are Apple MPP Opens?
Apple Mail Privacy Protection (MPP) can automatically preload email content.
This behavior can inflate open counts. A recipient may not actually open the email.
To improve accuracy:
Knak tracks Apple MPP opens separately
Confirmed open rates attempt to exclude automated opens
This provides a clearer view of actual engagement.
Why Don’t Knak and Marketo Open Counts Match?
Knak and Marketo track opens in different ways. This leads to differences in reported numbers.
Different definitions: Knak tracks Total Confirmed Opens using the Knak tracking pixel. Marketo often shows unique or attributed opens tied to known leads.
Attribution limits: Marketo may not count an open if it cannot link the activity to a recipient or send record. Knak still tracks the image load.
Timing differences: Knak logs opens close to real time. Marketo reports may update later.
Email client behavior: Some clients, like Gmail, use image proxies. Each platform may interpret these opens differently.
Report scope: Marketo reports can vary by view, such as email performance or program performance. These may not match the data Knak displays.
Deduplication rules: Each system uses different rules to count repeat opens. This includes counting by recipient, device, or time window.
These differences are expected. Open metrics across platforms will not always match exactly.
