Overview
Email testing helps you confirm that your emails display correctly across different devices and platforms.
You can customize which email clients are available for testing in Knak. This helps you focus on the clients your audience uses most.
Note: Admin access is required to make these changes.
Default Email Client Setup
Your account starts with a default list of 10 email clients. These are selected based on global usage and rendering differences:
iPhone 13, iOS 15 (Dark Mode)
Gmail App Pixel 5, Android 11
Outlook Office 365, Windows 10 (Dark Mode)
Gmail Chrome, Windows 10
Outlook 2019, Windows 10
iPhone 15 iOS 17
Apple Mail 16 macOS 13
Apple Mail 16 macOS 13 (Dark Mode)
Gmail App Pixel 7 Android 13 (Dark Mode)
Outlook Microsoft 365 macOS 13
Update Email Client Testing Options
Step 1: Open Email Testing Settings
Click Admin
Click Settings
Click Email Testing
Step 2: Enable Email Testing
Locate Use Email Testing
Toggle the feature on or off
Step 3: Open Client Customization
Click Customize Email Clients
View the client selection modal
Step 4: Select Email Clients
Click the + icon to add or remove clients
Choose the clients your team needs
Keep at least one client selected
Step 5: Save Your Changes
Click Save
Changes apply to your entire account. Brand-level settings are not supported.

Who Can Run Email Tests
You must have the correct permission to generate previews.
Usage Limits
Number of Email Clients
No limit on how many clients you can select
Render Limits
Each account includes 25,000 email renders per year
What Is a Render?
A render is a single preview of your email in one email client. A test includes multiple renders.
Example
Test an email 3 times
Use 10 email clients
Total renders = 30
Your Customer Success Manager (CSM) will notify you as you approach the limit.
