How to Use Knak Send

Details on how to set up and utilize Knak Send

Controlling access to Knak Send

  1. Access to Knak Send is controlled via permissions. We recommend creating a new Role in your Knak instance called "Knak Send".

  2. Assign the Knak Send permission to this Role.

    Edit Knak Send role settings with the option "Allow access to Knak Send" checked.

  3. Assign this new Role to any users who need access to Knak Send.


Accessing Knak Send

You can access Knak Send in one of two ways:

  1. Via the Builder

    1. When you have an email open in Knak, click Publish and Open in Knak Send.

  2. Via the app-switcher

    1. At the top of the platform, you'll see an app-switcher icon. Click it to navigate between Knak Enterprise and Knak Send.

Note: Your Knak Send instance has a 1:1 relationship with your Knak Enterprise instance. Only users in your Knak Enterprise instance can access your Knak Send, and you'll only be able to send emails from the linked Knak Enterprise instance.


Configuring your Knak Send instance

Set up your custom sending domain

  1. Navigate to Settings

  2. Click Set Up Custom Domain

  3. Enter your custom domain and click Connect

  4. Copy the CNAME records and send them to your IT team for verification

  5. Once the records have been verified, your Custom Domain status will show Connected

Note: Once your CNAME records are generated, your IT team will have 72 hours to verify them. After this verification window closes, you'll need to generate new records and share them for verification instead.

Import a contact list via the Import CSV function

  1. Navigate to Contact Lists

  2. Drag a CSV onto the drop target or browse for your CSV file to upload

  3. Name your contact list

  4. Identify whether the CSV has a header row

  5. Select the columns you would like to import and give them a label

  6. Finalize your contact list upload

Create your Smart Lists [Optional]

  1. Navigate to Smart Lists

  2. Click New Smart List

  3. Name your smart list

  4. Link your smart list to an associated contact list by clicking Add Contact List and selecting the relevant list

  5. Add your conditions based on the details from your contact list


Using Knak Send

Configuring an email send

  1. Click the Send New Email button

  2. Select the email from Knak Enterprise that you would like to send

  3. Make any last-minute edits to your From Name, From Email (prefix only), Reply-to Email, or Subject Line

  4. Add your recipients

    1. You can add individual recipients, smart lists, entire contact lists (or a combination of all three)

  5. Finally, you can decide whether you'd like to send the email now or schedule it for a date and time in the future. Just toggle between Send and Schedule Send.

  6. You can also save your send configuration as a draft at any time and revisit it in the future.
