What Is Knak Send Personalization?

Knak Send Personalization lets you display unique information for each recipient. For example, you can display a recipient's first name or last name.

Create placeholder tags while you build your email in Knak Enterprise. The tags remain as placeholders during editing. Map each tag to a contact field in Knak Send before you send your email. Knak Send replaces each placeholder with the correct contact information during sending.

Note: Merge tags for Knak Send are created as placeholder tags in Knak Enterprise. Placeholder values are replaced only after you map them in Knak Send and send your email.

Before You Begin

Before you start, make sure you:

  • Build your email in Knak Enterprise.

  • Have access to Knak Send.

  • Have at least one contact or contact list in Knak Send.

  • Have contact fields available for personalization, such as First Name or Last Name.

Add Personalization to Your Email

Use the Knak Send Tags menu to insert a new placeholder tag or reuse one that you already created for that email.

Insert a Placeholder Tag

Use the Knak Send Tags menu to create a new placeholder tag or insert one that you already created for that email.

  1. Open your email in Knak Enterprise.

  2. Select a text block.

  3. Click Knak Send Tags in the editor toolbar.

  4. Do one of the following:

    • If this is your first placeholder tag, click + Add Placeholder Tag. Enter a name for the tag, then insert it into your content.

Using default values helps prevent emails from displaying blank personalization.

Preview Your Personalized Email

After you map your merge tags, Knak Send updates the preview based on your selected recipient.

For example:

  • If the contact's first name is Spencer, the preview displays Hi Spencer.

  • If the first name is missing, the preview displays your default value instead.

Use the preview to confirm that your personalization appears as expected before you send your email.

Expected Result
