Overview
Segments allow you to display different content to different audiences within the same email or module.

Personalize content for different audiences
Reuse audience rules across campaigns
Create asset-specific targeting
Maintain consistent personalization
Segment Types: Global Segments and Local Segments
Segment Type | Scope |
Global Segment | Available across emails and modules |
Local Segment | Available only in the asset where it was created |
Identify Global and Local Segments
When working with Dynamic Content Variants, you can quickly identify a segment type by its icon:

✉️ Envelope icon: Local Segment
Create Global and Local Segments
The location where you create a segment determines whether it becomes a global or local segment.

Where to Create a Global Segment
Use a global segment when you want to reuse audience rules across multiple emails and modules.
Global segments must be created and managed through the Module Builder.
Where to Create a Local Segment
Use a local segment when you only need personalization within a single email.
Local segments are created directly within the email where they will be used.
Define Segment Rules and Conditions
Once you are in the correct location:
Select the content block you want to personalize:
Text
Images
Buttons
Social icons
Dividers
Spacers
Click the Add Dynamic Content icon
Click the gear icon
If multiple Marketing Automation Platforms (MAPs) are available, select the platform associated with your audience data
Add an easily identifiable Segment Name
Configure the conditions that define your audience
Click Save to create the segment
Note: To use the segment in an email, the email must be synced to the same Marketing Automation Platform selected when the segment was created.

Edit a Global Segment
Open an email or module with dynamic content
Click the segment name in the variant
This opens the edit screen.
Update the segment conditions
Click Save
Segment Editing Impact
The effect of editing a segment depends on the segment type.
Segment Type | Edit Impact |
Global Segment | Updates all assets |
Local Segment | Updates current asset only |
Delete a Segment
Delete a segment when it is no longer needed.
Click the gear icon to open the segment settings
Select the segment you want to delete
Click Delete
Confirm the deletion in the dialog
Deletion Impact
The effect of deleting a segment depends on the segment type.
Segment Type | Deletion Impact |
Global Segment | Removes the segment from your entire account. All assets using the segment are affected. Linked content variants must be reassigned to a different segment. |
Local Segment | Removes the segment from the asset where it was created. Other assets are not affected. |
Important Notes:
Deleting a segment is permanent.
Deleting a segment removes the associated audience logic.
Review any affected content before deleting a segment.
Global segment deletions affect all emails and modules using that segment.
Manage User Permissions for Dynamic Content
Control access to Dynamic Content using roles.
Update Role Permissions
Go to Admin.
Click Roles.
Select the role to modify.
Scroll to the Dynamic Content section.
You can grant permission to:
Manage dynamic content variants
Manage global segments
Manage local segments
