Import a Knak Email into Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot)

Build your email in Knak. Then import the HTML into Marketing Cloud Account Engagement (Pardot) as either a one-time email or a reusable email template.

Before You Begin

Note: If you have configured the Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) integration, you can sync emails directly from Knak to Pardot. For setup instructions, see How to Set Up the Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) Integration and Sync.

Use the steps in this article if you need to manually import an email into Pardot instead of using the integration.


Download Your Email HTML from Knak

  1. Open your email in Knak.

  2. Click Actions in the top-right corner.

  3. Select Download.

  4. Click Download HTML for Pardot.

Copy the Email HTML Code

  1. Locate the downloaded .html file on your computer.

  2. Open the file in your web browser.

  3. Right-click anywhere on the page.

  4. Select View Page Source.

  6. Copy the code.

Create an Email Template in Marketing Cloud Account Engagement

  1. In Account Engagement, navigate to Email > Templates.

  2. Click + Add Email Template.

  3. Complete the Basic Template Information:

    • Select a folder.

    • Select a campaign.

    • Choose HTML and Text as the email type.

    • Select the appropriate options under Available For.

      • Examples include:

        • List Emails

        • Engagement Program Emails

        • Autoresponder Emails

  4. Click Save.

Import the Knak HTML

  1. On the Layouts screen, click Skip.

  2. Wait for the email editor to open.

  3. Enable HTML view.

  4. Remove any placeholder HTML from the editor.

  5. Paste the HTML code copied from Knak.

  6. Save the template.

Generate the Text Version

  1. Navigate to the Text tab.

  2. Click Sync from HTML.

  3. Review the generated text version.

  4. Make any necessary edits.


Review and Test the Email

  1. Open Preview mode.

  2. Review the email content and formatting.

  3. Send a test email.

  4. Confirm that all content renders correctly.


Troubleshooting

The Template Cannot Be Saved

Verify that your email contains a valid unsubscribe link using the %%unsubscribe%% merge field.

The Email Does Not Display Correctly

Send a test email to verify rendering. Some email clients may display HTML differently than the editor preview.

Editing Imported Emails

Knak emails are compatible with the Marketing Cloud Account Engagement editor. Some editing limitations may apply depending on the email structure.
