Configure Marketo Sync Settings (Optional)
You can optionally adjust Marketo sync settings before syncing your asset.
These settings let you control how the asset appears in Marketo.
If you do not need any of these options, skip this section and continue to the sync step.
Open Sync Settings
Open the email or landing page that you want to sync.
Click the Info tab.
Review the available sync settings:
Set as an Operational Email: Marketo will treat the email as an operational email.
Publish to Marketo Sales Insight: Makes the email available in Marketo Sales Insight.
Marketo Email Description: Adds a description to help identify the asset in Marketo.
Enable the settings that you want to use.
Add a description if needed.
Continue to the sync step.
Start the Sync
Open the asset you want to sync.
Click Actions.
Select Sync.
Select a Sync Destination
Select your connected Marketo integration.
Choose the program where you want to sync the asset.
You can browse the Marketo folder structure or search for a program by name or URL.
Note: If you utilize Sync Restrictions in Knak, you will not be able to leverage Program Search.
Confirm Sync Location and Sync
Click Confirm & Sync.
Knak will begin syncing your asset to Marketo.
Verify Sync Status
Use the Sync Status page to monitor your asset syncs and troubleshoot issues.
You can view:
Syncs currently in progress
Successful syncs
Failed syncs
Error messages
Failure reasons
Open Sync Status
Open Studio.
In the lower-left navigation menu, click the sync status indicator.
If there are no active syncs, the indicator displays No Active Syncing.
If a sync is currently running, the indicator displays a notification showing that a sync is in progress.
Monitor Sync Progress
The Sync Status page provides real-time visibility into your sync activity.
Use this page to:
Track active syncs.
Confirm when a sync has completed.
Identify failed syncs.
Review error messages.
This should give you a better idea of how long your asset sync is taking and any issues.
Troubleshooting
Use the information below to resolve common issues when syncing assets to Marketo.
Review Sync Errors
If an asset does not sync successfully, review the error details in the Sync Status page.
Open the sync status indicator from the lower-left navigation menu in Studio.
Locate the failed sync.
Review the error message.
Resolve the issue before attempting another sync.
If you receive a Marketo error that you do not recognize, refer to Adobe's documentation for additional details.
Sync Error Code 611
You may see the following error message:
Could not sync asset template. Possible reasons: Unsupported emoji in message body.
This error does not always indicate an unsupported emoji. In some cases, Marketo returns Error 611 when an unknown issue occurs on the Marketo side. Nothing is wrong with your asset in Knak.
Try the following:
Sync the email as a new asset.
Manually upload the email if needed.
If the sync succeeds, provide the Request ID to Marketo Support for further investigation.
Plain Text Sync Limitations
Responsive visibility settings only affect how content appears in the HTML version of an email.
If you hide content for desktop or mobile views, that content may still appear in the plain text version generated by Marketo.
This behavior is a known limitation in Marketo.
Next Steps
Your asset is now available in Marketo.
Edit Synced Assets in Marketo
Knak assets remain editable after syncing to Marketo.
Recommended: Make content updates in Knak and then resync the asset to Marketo. This helps keep your source of truth in one place and prevents changes from being overwritten during future syncs.
If you need to make updates directly in Marketo after syncing, you can:
Update text and content in the Marketo editor.
Replace images.
Update button URLs and button text using Global Variables.
Add Marketo snippets.
Configure Marketo tokens and personalization.
Send test emails before launch.
