How to Preview Dynamic Content in Marketo

Preview dynamic email content to confirm personalization displays correctly before sending.

Overview

Dynamic content changes based on who receives your email. This can include location, industry, or other audience segments.

Previewing ensures each audience sees the correct version. This step helps avoid errors before sending.


Before You Start

Make sure your email asset is synced to Marketo.

Sync Your Asset

  1. Click the Actions Menu

  2. Click Sync

  3. Select your Marketo program and click Next

  4. Click Confirm & Sync

Note: If your email does not appear in Marketo, check your sync logs. Look for any errors that may have blocked the sync.

Preview Your Email in Marketo

Step 1: Open Preview

  1. Select your email in Marketo

  2. Click Preview

Step 2: Change View Type

  1. Click the View By dropdown

  2. Select Person

This setting lets you preview content based on a specific contact.

Step 3: Enter a Test Contact

  1. Enter an email address

  2. Choose a contact that matches your dynamic segment

Example:

  • Use a Canadian contact for a Canada segment

  • Use a US contact for a United States segment

This shows how each audience sees the email.


Verify Your Content

  • Review the email carefully.

  • Check each variation of your dynamic content.

  • Confirm that all segments display the correct version.

Once confirmed, your email is ready to send.
