Custom Fields

Use Custom Fields to create dynamic tokens that populate content based on email, brand, or company-level data.

What Are Custom Fields?

Custom Fields are dynamic tokens that insert values from your account. These can be set at the email, brand, or company level.

They use this format: {{?field_name?}}

You can find Custom Fields in the Info tab under Advanced Settings after setup.

Custom Fields in the Advanced Settings area.

Enable Custom Fields

Custom Fields must be enabled for your account before you can use them.

Contact your Customer Success Manager or Knak Support to request setup.

Provide the Following Information

Include the following details for each Custom Field:

  • Field Name (token name)

  • Field Type

    • Text

    • Drop-down menu (include the available values)

    • Date

    • Date & Time

  • Account Default Value (optional)

Use Custom Fields

After setup is complete, you can:

  • Copy Custom Field tokens from the Brand settings.

  • Insert tokens into:

    • Emails

    • Landing pages

    • Integrations, such as project management tools

When the content is published or synchronized, the token displays the assigned value.

Manage Brand-Level Settings

If you are a brand administrator, you can control how Custom Fields behave for your brand.

Default Value

Set a brand-level default value.

The brand default overrides the company-level default.

Lock Field

Lock a Custom Field to prevent changes at the email level.

This ensures the same value is used across all content within the brand.
