You will need to set up your integration before it can be available in your instance. To set up the integration, please refer to this help article:

To translate your asset:

  1. Click on the translate button on the top menu bar. An option to configure translations will appear.

  2. Click on 'Configure Translations'. An integration menu will appear, select the desired integration.

  3. Select the project and the workflow (from Smartling), you can also Create New Job/Add to Existing Job and add a Custom Job Name during this step.

  4. Choose the languages you want to translate the asset to.

  5. Select the campaign where you want it translated to. The current campaign is the one selected by default. Confirm your selection.

Add any notes you want that's related to this translation and hit 'Submit Request'

How Your Translations will Look in Knak

If you assign your translated assets to the same campaign as the original asset, the translation will show up as a card on the original asset. Click View Translations and the collapsible card will expand to show your translations.

If you assign your translated assets to a different campaign, they will show up as their own asset in the assigned campaign, like this:

Troubleshooting

Update Out of Date Variants

The Update Out of Date Variants button functions similarly to the Update Out of Date modules feature. It will update elements, add new elements, and/or delete removed elements in your asset.

You will need to request translations again when a text element is deleted, and a new one is added since the changes will be reflected on the translated variants after using the Update Out of Date Variants button.

Resubmitting Assets for Translation

If the original translation request has not been marked as completed (or failed), you will need to select the three-dot menu in the translate tab on the language to delete the original translation. After the previous translation request is deleted, you can resubmit for translation.

For a smooth translation process, we recommend user to follow these rules:

  • Do not delete any content in base assets once they are translated.

  • Do not delete any content in translations.

  • Do not delete any content in modules once they are in use.
