How to Set Up Iterable Dynamic Content

Configure Iterable to use Dynamic Content in Knak.

Before You Begin

Before configuring Dynamic Content, you must connect and configure your Iterable integration in Knak.

Once the integration is connected, you can enable Dynamic Content and configure merge tags for audience personalization.

Enable Dynamic Content in the Iterable Integration

  1. Open Admin.

  2. Click Integrations > Platforms.

  3. Select your Iterable integration.

  4. Click the Edit icon.

  5. Enable Dynamic Content.

  6. Click Save.

Configure Merge Tags

Dynamic Content uses merge tags to evaluate audience data. It uses that data to determine which content variation to display.

Find the Field Name in Iterable

Before you create a merge tag in Knak, you need to find the correct field name in Iterable.

  1. Click the gear icon.

  2. Hover over Current Project.

  3. Select Data Schema Management.

  4. Click User Profile Fields.

The User Profile Fields page displays all available profile fields. You can also create new profile fields from this page if needed.

Under the Name column, locate the field that you want to use. Copy the value exactly as it appears. You will use this value when you create the merge tag in Knak.

Important: Field names are case-sensitive. Copy the field name exactly as it appears in Iterable, including:

  • Uppercase and lowercase letters

  • Spaces

  • Periods (.)

  • Underscores (_)

  • Any other special characters

If the field name does not match exactly, the merge tag will not populate correctly.

Create the Merge Tag

  1. Open Admin.

  2. Click Integrations > Platforms > Merge Tags.

  3. Click Create Merge Tag, or edit an existing merge tag.

  4. Enter a Display Name.

  5. Enter the Iterable field name using the following syntax:

    {{fieldName}}

  6. Click Save.

Repeat these steps for each field you want to use in Dynamic Content conditions.

Preview Dynamic Content in Iterable

After syncing your email to Iterable, preview the message using test user data.

Verify that:

  • The correct Dynamic Content variation displays.

  • Merge tags populate correctly.

  • Default content displays as expected.
